Asus is a fantastic company: its Eee PCs spearheaded the netbook phenomenon, and now its Eee tablets hope to capture a big chunk of the nascent tablet market.

Samsung’s been busy recently: as if making smartphones and tablets wasn’t enough, it’s having a go at a new kind of PC too. Like Asus’s Eee Slider the PC 7 Series transforms from a tablet into a netbook thanks to a slide-out keyboard.

The Viewpad promises the best of both worlds: all the horsepower of a Windows tablet for work, and the fun of Android for touch-related tomfoolery. When it’s good it’s very, very good, but it has a couple of serious flaws – not least that you can’t actually buy it yet.
