Apple doesn’t announce things months in advance and is more secretive than MI5 – so inevitably, the slightest bit of speculation soon becomes reported around the world. This month’s speculation is that Apple is working on a smaller iPad with a 7.85-inch screen.

Cables are horrible things: they’re never around when you need them, and they’re always in the way when you don’t. Wouldn’t it be great if you could banish them altogether?

Apple announced two important things last week: PC Free, which means that from the Autumn iOS devices no longer need to be connected to Macs or PCs for activation or synchronisation, and iCloud, a new cloud computing service.
